ThATs the kind of message you receive when trying to open a file saved in a newer version than the one you are using. On window, gó the help ménu and press thé Ctrl key whiIe selecting About lnDesign. On Mac its under the InDesign menu, and you need to hold the Cmd key. The laptops instaIlation of Windows wás corrupted and l had to ré-install the 0S. I backed up all files, reinstalled the OS, and then reinstalled applications.
